Tuesday 17 June | 12.30–1.30pm | ACMD Auditorium + Hybrid Lunch from 12pm for in-person attendees
Type 1 diabetes has been managed with insulin for more than a century. It works, but it’s not enough.
Professor Tom Kay, Director of St Vincent’s Institute of Medical Research, is part of a global effort to go further: using stem-cell derived islets and immunotherapy to protect and restore the body’s own insulin production. This month’s seminar is a chance to hear directly from one of Australia’s leading clinician-scientists about where this research stands, and what it could mean for the 130,000 Australians living with type 1 diabetes.
In-person attendance is encouraged. Lunch provided from 12pm.
