Medical technology is used daily in healthcare to diagnose and treat patients. The advancement of these technologies such as robotic surgery, telehealth and wearable sensors will continue to improve the accuracy of diagnosis and patient outcomes as well as a person’s wellbeing. This showcase will highlight some of the cutting-edge research carried out by ACMD and VMH partners.
You will hear from three of the Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery (ACMD) partners on various aspects of developing successful medical technologies and devices such as importance of design (industrial, architectural, communication), working at the interface between academia and industry, and the experiences of a medical technology start-up company.
Our colleagues at the VMH will also share how they are helping to address key industry skills gaps through targeted training programs, supporting the continued development of our sector.
There will be opportunities to speak with the researchers and view the exhibits during the networking session.
